Julio Silva | Bio
He graduated as an industrial designer and did a specialty in Vitrofusion in Düsseldorf, Germany.
He lives and works in the city of Guadalajara and is passionate about investigating processes with materials like paint, glass and metals. Silva´s work always starts from having direct contact with the material itself, exploring it and how it reacts to different stimuli.
with hands, feet, and full body he works converting personal concerns into an abstract plastic where each color finds its own meaning.
in the artists own words:
” i work painting on the floor, walls limit me. Gravitiy is a natural, inevitable limit… working this way i get to experience it as my accomplice, rather than as an impediment. I can dance, move, walk and paint freely, feel the texture of the gravel, the paint, the dirt… i get to experience it with my whole body. “
He has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in Europe, the United States and Mexico, including the Joaquín Clausell Biennial, as well as the Rufino Tamayo Biennial.
