JORGE MARÍN | BIO

Born in Michoacán, México, 1963

Mexican sculptor and painter, he studied Graphic Design and Restoration at the National School of Conservation, Restoration and Museography.

He has been an active figure in the contemporary art world for the last 25 years. He began sculpting in ceramics in the early 1980s, but bronze has been his favorite material for the last 10 years.

In his work, Marín manages to capture the movement in his characters and fill them with contained strength. He represents a complex universe, in which the human figure is the landscape. He is the maker of winged beings, rafts, animals and any form that serves to unsettle consciences through art and promote reflection on our societies.

He has had more than 260 solo and group exhibitions and collective exhibitions in four continents. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in Europe, in countries such as Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, England, Spain, France, Hungary, England, Portugal, Turkey and Azerbaijan, Turkey and Azerbaijan; in the Americas, such as in Canada, Costa Rica, United States, El Salvador, Guatemala and Panama, Guatemala and Panama; as well as in Asia where he has been to China, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Kuwait. His work Alas de México accumulates thousands of kilometers around the world. It has been installed permanently in 8 cities in 4 continents.
