GUILLERMO CONTE

Guillermo conte | Bio

Since he was a child he was attracted to the plastic arts. At the age of 15, he entered the National School of Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of 23, he settled in Rome, where he worked with the group from the Nuova Roman School. He returned to Buenos Aires at age 27.

Crossed by an eclectic style in which form and color display themes and concepts as diverse as installations or more traditional painting such as landscape, Guillermo Conté's career is marked by constant evolution and encounter with the material. His work seeks to evoke the past through the representation of objects, which in turn serve as symbols: vases, pearl necklaces, chairs, or flowers. In this way, his work is very intimate, with a clear and very personal character.

Some of his solo exhibitions and presentations are Galería Estudio, Roma, 1986; Wessel O'Connor Gallery, New York, USA 1988 .; Ideas and Images of Argentina, The Bronx Museum, New York, 1990; Trópicos Entre Ríos, Sofía Imber y Museum of Contemporary Art, Caracas, 1992; Contemporary Argentine Painting, Buenos Aires, 1997; Arco, Marta Cervera, Madrid, 1999; Art Miami, Ramis Barquet, Florida, 2000; FIAC, Barquet Ramis, Paris, France, 2000; Paper Biennial, Tijuana, Mexico, 2000; Marta Cervera Gallery, Madrid.
